UMPIRE SERVICES

Independent. Impartial. Experienced.

When two appraisers can't agree, an umpire breaks the tie. Collision Claims Advisors is available to serve as umpire in both repair disputes and total loss valuations — unbiased to either party.

THE ROLE

What Is an Umpire?

Under the appraisal clause found in most auto insurance policies, when the two party-appointed appraisers cannot agree on the amount of loss, the dispute is referred to a mutually agreed-upon umpire. The umpire reviews both appraisals, may inspect the vehicle independently, and issues a binding decision. Agreement between the umpire and either appraiser sets the final award.

Repair Disputes

When the policyholder's appraiser and the carrier's appraiser disagree on the cost of repair — whether it's labor rates, parts, procedures, or scope — I review both positions, evaluate the repair methodology, and render an impartial decision based on the facts.

Total Loss Valuations

When two appraisers cannot agree on the Actual Cash Value of a total loss vehicle, I independently research comparable sales, evaluate vehicle condition, and determine a fair market value — without bias toward either side.

Neutral & Unbiased

I do not represent either party. My role as umpire is to evaluate the evidence presented by both sides and reach a fair, defensible determination. My only obligation is to the facts.
